Exploring the Craft of Woodworking
Mokuzen Studio shares a personal journey into woodworking, focusing on traditional Japanese methods and the harmony of nature in design. It reflects a passion for craftsmanship and a vision to blend natural shapes with functional artistry.
Mokuzen is a Japanese-inspired name that combines the words for wood (moku) and Zen, expressing a philosophy of simple, mindful craftsmanship rooted in the natural beauty of wood. The word mokuzen can also be translated as “before one’s very eyes,” “under one’s nose,” or “close at hand” — reflecting focus on presence, bold use of natural elements, and the quiet details that are often overlooked.
